Camera/DVR Sets
A camera and DVR set is the right buy when you need recorded evidence rather than a live view — the recorder is what turns footage into something an investigator, an insurer or a court can actually use. Each set here pairs cameras with a matching recorder so you are not guessing at compatibility, resolution ceilings or channel counts.
How to choose. Start with channel count: buy one more channel than you think you need, because the second camera position is almost always discovered after installation. Then decide on storage. Continuous recording at 4K consumes far more disk than motion-triggered recording at 1080p, and the honest question is how many days of history you need to look back through — for most retail and small-commercial sites that is 14 to 30 days. Finally, check whether the set is wired or wireless. Wired is more reliable and cannot be jammed; wireless is faster to install and easier to move.
What people get wrong. Resolution is oversold. A 4K camera pointed at the wrong place is worth less than a 1080p camera covering the actual entry point at face height. Position and lighting beat megapixels nearly every time. Also plan for retrieval before you install: if the recorder sits in an unlocked back room, an intruder takes the evidence with them.
If you are documenting a specific incident, or you need footage that will survive a challenge to its handling, our digital forensics team can advise on capture and chain of custody before you record anything. For covert placements, see hidden cameras.
