1080P HD Button Camera Set

The 1080P HD Button Camera Set (C1023) is a miniature covert camera built into a shirt button. It is a LawMate camera, backed by KJB service, and it pairs with LawMate’s DVR506 and DVR1100 recorders to make a body-worn camera and recorder set. The camera itself does not record; it feeds the DVR, which you carry in a pocket.

How a button camera is used

The camera replaces a button on a shirt or jacket, and a thin cable runs inside the clothing to the recorder. A 78° view at chest height captures the person you are facing and what they hand you, which is why this set-up is used for undercover purchases, mystery shopping and documenting face-to-face meetings.

Getting good footage

• Choose a shirt whose buttons are a close match to the camera button.
• Face the person squarely. The camera sees what your chest points at, not what your eyes follow.
• Test the set-up at home, including walking and sitting, and check the footage before relying on it.
• Set the DVR’s date and time so every file carries an accurate timestamp.

Where hidden video is and is not lawful

Video recording in your own home or business is generally lawful, but Arizona makes it a crime to secretly film someone in a place where they expect privacy, such as a bathroom, bedroom or changing area (A.R.S. § 13-3019). Audio is treated differently from video: if the device records sound, the recording also falls under wiretap law. Arizona is a one-party consent state (A.R.S. § 13-3005), but several states require every party to agree. This is general information, not legal advice.

If the recording may become evidence

Copy the original file off the device as soon as you can, keep that first copy untouched, and work only from duplicates. Note the date, time and place of the recording and who had the device.
