Why a phone safe, not just “put phones away”
A smartphone in the room is a microphone in the room. It can be left off-hook, it can run recording software the owner did not install, and a compromised messaging app can carry audio out of a meeting. Asking people to leave phones on the table does nothing about any of that.
A multi-phone safe gives a meeting a defined boundary: phones go in, the lid closes, and the conversation is not carried out of the room by the devices sitting in it.
Vulnerabilities of modern phones, Features and Advantages
- The phone can be intentionally, or covertly, ‘off-hook’ during important conversations and negotiations
- Voice recording software can intentionally, or secretly, run on the smartphone
- Listening software can run in a ‘stealth’ mode
- Spyware can be installed on the smartphone without the owner’s knowledge, allowing attackers to activate covert eavesdropping around the phone.
- Smartphone apps which have access to the phone’s microphone can be used for eavesdropping in cases of them having been hacked (usually messengers or social network apps) There are known cases of transmission of such software by exploiting the vulnerabilities of some messengers.
- Blocks the microphone of the phone with the help of non-filterable ultrasonic interference
- Efficiently prevents surround recording app from capturing conversations and sounds
- The frequency of interference has been optimally selected for the best performance and defeats all existing models of smartphones.
- Made attractive with natural wood stand.
- The phone stays online and available for incoming calls
- No illegal radio jamming
- Can be powered by the external USB, or from the built-in rechargeable battery
- Has 2 sensors, increasing the battery’s resource: the device starts producing interference when a phone is inserted (IN USE sensor) and a conversation is present (ACTIVITY sensor)
- Is compatible with all types of phones
- Accommodates from 1 to 4 phones
- Use in board rooms, R&D labs anywhere you need to secure conversations and meetings.
Where it belongs
Board rooms, deal rooms, legal conferences, HR investigations and any conversation where the participants are not all on the same side. Put it at the entrance, not in the corner, so using it is part of walking in. For recurring sensitive meetings, write it into the meeting procedure rather than deciding each time.
What it does not solve
A phone safe handles phones. It does nothing about a device planted in the room, a compromised conferencing system, wiring, or a participant who simply repeats what was said. It is one control in a set, which is why we usually pair it with a sweep before the meeting and sensible document handling after it.
If the conversation is worth protecting this much, it is worth a room sweep before it starts.
