Tactical Side Straps (Optional Side Armor) – HG2

These are Safe Life Defense Tactical Side Straps with HG2 (Level IIIA) side armor: a set of two side straps with low-profile pockets that hold 5″ × 7″ side armor panels. The straps stabilize a plate carrier when it is loaded with a full kit, and the panels add protection at the sides of the torso, which the front and back panels leave open.

What you get

• Two tactical side straps
• Low-profile pockets sized for 5″ × 7″ side armor panels, with HG2 (Level IIIA) panels included in this listing
• The same straps that come standard on the Safe Life Defense Tactical Carrier

Why the sides matter

Front and back panels cover the chest and back, but the area under the arms is exposed whenever you raise or turn your arms, for example when driving, aiming or reaching. Side panels close part of that gap. The straps also pull the carrier snug around the torso, so a heavily loaded carrier does not shift or sag as you move.

Fit and set-up

• Fit the straps so the carrier sits snug but still lets you breathe deeply and raise your arms fully.
• Check that each side panel sits flat in its pocket with no folds.
• HG2 (Level IIIA) is a handgun, shotgun, strike and slash rating. It is not rated to stop rifle rounds. For rifle threats at the sides, see the FRAS® Side Armor Panels.

Care

Remove the panels before washing the straps, and never soak or machine-wash ballistic panels. Follow the care label on your armor.

Who can buy body armor

Federal law bars anyone convicted of a violent felony from owning body armor (18 U.S.C. § 931). Some states add their own rules, for example New York limits civilian purchases and Connecticut requires in-person sales. You are responsible for checking the law where you live.
