Detection of all active radio transmitters up to 10 GHz bandwidth finding even the most advanced transmitters!

SKU: DD801 Category:

Ordered direct from the manufacturer. This item ships to you from the maker. Dispatch times vary by product, so we confirm your delivery timeline by email as soon as your order is placed.

This is the wideband end of the detector range — coverage to 10 GHz, which is what it takes to see the whole spectrum a modern transmitter might sit in rather than the slice a consumer detector covers. It has been the top seller in this category since 2009 and is in service with private security, law enforcement and government agencies.

Why 10 GHz is the number that matters

Bandwidth is the specification that decides what a detector can and cannot see, and it is the one most often quietly omitted. A detector that tops out at 2.5 GHz covers older Wi-Fi and some cellular and is blind above that. The bands in play now run well past it — 5 GHz Wi-Fi, the upper cellular and LTE allocations, and purpose-built transmitters chosen precisely because cheap detectors cannot reach them.

Coverage to 10 GHz means the sweep is not leaving a band unexamined. Against the spec list on this page — GSM, UMTS, CDMA, LTE, GPRS, WCDMA, TDSCDMA, DECT, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, analogue AM/FM/PM and digital FSK/PSK with continuous carrier — that is the difference between a sweep and a partial sweep.

“Powered or not” — how that actually works

Worth explaining rather than repeating, because it is the claim people misread. No RF detector can find a camera that is switched off; a device that transmits nothing emits nothing to detect. What finds an unpowered camera is the optical side: LEDs surrounding a viewfinder, and any lens pointed back at you reflects that light straight to its source as a hard bright point. A lens is a lens whether or not the camera behind it has power.

So the unit does two separate jobs. The RF side finds anything transmitting — bugs, wireless cameras, GPS beacons while they are reporting. The optical side finds lenses, including the card-recording cameras that are invisible to any amount of spectrum analysis. Neither alone is a sweep.

Running it properly

Power down your own phone, Wi-Fi and radios first — almost every false hunt traces back to the operator’s own equipment. Reduce sensitivity as you close in, which narrows the field until the source is localised to a specific object rather than a corner of the room. For the optical pass, kill the lights and close the blinds, then scan from the positions a camera would plausibly be watching: from the bed, from the chair, from the doorway.

The limit worth knowing

A device that transmits in short scheduled bursts rather than continuously can be missed by any walk-through sweep, however wide its bandwidth — you simply have to be listening in the window it speaks. That is why professional work pairs a walk-through with a static monitoring period, and it is the honest reason a concrete suspicion that survives a clean handheld sweep still warrants professional TSCM.

If you find a device, do not unplug it or handle it further — photograph it in place, note the time, and call. See also RF and GPS detection.
