Hardwired

Hardwired cameras and devices draw power and carry signal over cable. For any permanent installation where you can run the cable, this is the more reliable choice.
Why professionals prefer wired. No batteries to fail, no wireless interference, no dropped connection when the router restarts, and critically — a wired camera cannot be defeated with a signal jammer. For anything protecting genuine value, that last point alone settles the argument. Wired systems also handle continuous high-resolution recording that would drain a battery device in hours.
The trade-off is installation. Cable has to be routed, concealed and protected. Exposed cable is both an eyesore and a vulnerability — it takes one pair of cutters. Route through conduit, wall cavity or roof space, and keep the run away from anything an intruder reaches before they reach the camera.
Plan the run properly. Measure the real route with slack, not the straight line. Keep data cable away from mains runs to avoid interference. Where Power over Ethernet is supported, use it — one cable for power and data makes installation simpler and more reliable.
Where cable is genuinely impossible, see battery-operated equipment. For complete wired systems, see camera and DVR sets.
