Independent bays are the whole design
A single tension screw across three bays is a compromise by construction: magazines vary between manufacturers and between the .40, 9mm and .357 SIG bodies this pouch takes, so one setting is too tight for one and too loose for another. Too tight and you fight the draw; too loose and a magazine walks out over a shift. Independently adjustable bays mean each one is set to the magazine that actually lives in it, and stays set.
Bullets-out, and why it is faster
Bullets-out orientation lets you index the magazine with your fingers already in the grip position, so the round goes toward the magwell without a rotation on the way. It also saves width on the belt, because the magazines nest rather than standing square. Combined with the open-top design — no flap to clear, no retention strap to defeat — the reload is the shortest it can be while still being secure.
Open top is a deliberate trade. It is right for duty, range and competition; it is not the choice for a pouch that will be inverted, crawled with or worn under a pack.
Mounting
The Hyperlock™ attachment system fits MOLLE and slide-on belt setups, mounts without tools, and sits at 0.03″ profile — thin enough that it does not push the magazines off your centreline or catch a cover garment. Toolless matters more than it sounds: a pouch you can reposition in the parking lot is a pouch that ends up in the right place, rather than where it was first bolted.
Stainless hardware with thread locker is the detail that decides whether it is still tight in a year. Nylon-on-nylon fasteners back out under vibration; this does not.
