An exit sign is the only housing in this range that belongs in a commercial corridor without anyone wondering why it is there. Offices, warehouses, clinics, schools, apartment blocks and stairwells all have them by law, mounted high, facing along the circulation route — which happens to be the exact position you would choose to watch who moves through a building.

Our New full line of SG Home security cameras give you choices: All cameras work on the same application so you can mix and match any model. Install a doorbell camera, floodlight camera and hidden cameras all on one app and one system

It is already pointing the right way

Exit signs are installed above doorways and along egress paths, facing the direction people travel. That gives a camera in one a view down the length of a corridor and across a doorway at the same time, which is the highest-value single viewpoint in most commercial buildings — everyone who enters or leaves passes through it.

The corollary is that a sign in a position no exit sign would occupy is the most conspicuous thing in the building. Fit it where such a sign genuinely belongs: above a door, at a stairwell, at a corridor junction. If there is no plausible position, this is the wrong housing for that space.

Corridor footage: what you will and will not get

High mounting and a long view mean this is an excellent record of who passed through and when, and a poor one for identifying a stranger at the far end of the corridor. Faces are small and seen from above. If identification matters, the answer is a second camera at face level near the point of entry rather than a higher-resolution one on the sign. Both run on the same app, so it stays one system.

Corridors also present the hardest lighting in a building: a bright doorway at the end of a dim passage will silhouette anyone walking toward it. Where you can, mount so the camera looks away from the main glazed entrance rather than into it.

Two things to settle before you install

This unit runs on its internal rechargeable battery — there is no solar option on this model — so recharging means reaching a high mounting point on a ladder. Plan the interval realistically, and remember that a busy corridor triggers far more often than a quiet room, so runtime will be at the short end.

And in a workplace, recording is not purely a technical decision. Employee monitoring may be constrained by employment law, by a union agreement, or by your own policies quite separately from what any recording statute permits, and a camera in a space staff treat as private is a different matter from one covering a public corridor. Confirm the position with counsel before it goes up.

Records to a card up to 128 GB. More hidden cameras; see also the solar rock for outdoors and the wood-frame décor for face-level indoor placements.
