This listing is the ballistic panel set, not a complete vest. Buy it when you already own a carrier that fits and you are replacing expired panels, or when you want one set of panels to move between a concealable carrier and a uniform shirt carrier.

Level IIIA is the working standard for most security and plain-clothes assignments: it covers common handgun rounds, strikes and slashes, and it can be worn for a full shift without fatigue.

Made in the USA by Safe Life Defense in Nevada with Honeywell®, Brookwood® and SAATI® materials, this armor is now thinner, lighter, and stronger than ever. SLD-HG2 is NIJ Certified to the 0101.06 IIIA standard to provide reliable protection against IIIA threats (all the most common handguns and shotguns) while being extremely comfortable to wear and budget friendly.

When to replace panels

Soft armor has a service life. Safe Life Defense warrants its ballistic panels for five years. If you inherited a vest, read the label before you trust it. Panels that have been folded, soaked, stored in a hot vehicle for long periods, or struck should be retired early regardless of date.

Fit

Panels are sized to a carrier cut. Confirm the size and model of your current carrier before ordering, and keep the panel serial numbers in your equipment records — for a licensed agency, that record is what proves which officer carried which panel and when it was replaced.

Care

Wipe with a damp cloth, air dry flat, and never put panels in a washing machine or dryer. Store them flat or hung, not folded. The carrier is the washable part.
