The horizontal long utility bag is the MAS-series size for the things that are not phones: a tablet and a laptop sleeve, a radio, a camera body, a stack of key fobs and trackers, or a full set of devices seized from a scene. Three RF shielding layers, sized at 15.5 Ɨ 3.8 Ɨ 11.0 inches outside and 15.0 Ɨ 3.3 Ɨ 10.3 inches inside.

What a Faraday bag does, precisely

A Faraday bag is a conductive enclosure. Radio energy cannot cross it in either direction, so a device inside cannot receive a signal, cannot transmit one, and cannot be located, wiped or updated remotely. That covers cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and RFID together — it is not a jammer and not a software setting, it is physics, and it works on a device you do not control and cannot unlock.

Three RF layers rather than one is what separates a working bag from a pouch that attenuates a little. Shielding effectiveness falls off as a bag is flexed, abraded and opened thousands of times, and the layer count is the margin that keeps it working past the first year.

The uses that actually matter

Evidence handling. This is the serious one. A seized phone left connected can be wiped remotely, can receive messages that alter its state, and can sync changes that complicate authentication later. Bagging the device at the point of seizure — powered on, not shut down — preserves it. Shutting a modern phone down triggers full-disk encryption that can make it unreadable even with the passcode situation unchanged, which is why the correct instruction is bag it, do not power it off, and get it to an examiner. See digital forensics.

Executive and travel privacy. Devices in the bag during a sensitive meeting cannot be used as microphones or location beacons, whatever is installed on them.

Key fobs and vehicle theft. Relay attacks work by extending your key fob’s signal from inside your house to a thief standing at your car. A fob in a Faraday bag ends that attack outright.

Trackers. A GPS tracker found on a vehicle stops reporting the moment it goes in the bag, which preserves it intact rather than tipping off whoever placed it.

Using it correctly

The closure is the whole seal — fold and secure it exactly as specified, every time, because a partially closed bag is an antenna with a gap. Test it before you rely on it: put a phone inside, close it properly, and call the phone. If it rings, the bag is not sealed. Retest periodically; shielding degrades with use.

Plan for battery drain. A phone that cannot find a network climbs to full transmit power hunting for one, so a device left bagged for hours comes out considerably flatter than it went in.
