The satellite phone size is the tall, narrow MAS-series bag ā 10.0 Ć 5.3 inches outside, 8.3 Ć 4.3 inches inside, three RF shielding layers. It was cut for sat phones with fixed external antennas, which no phone-sized pouch accommodates, and it works equally well for a handheld radio, a rugged GPS unit, or a phone plus a couple of key fobs and trackers.
Faraday Bag for Satellite Phones Phones ā MAS Series ā 3 RF Layers

What a Faraday bag does, precisely
A Faraday bag is a conductive enclosure. Radio energy cannot cross it in either direction, so a device inside cannot receive a signal, cannot transmit one, and cannot be located, wiped or updated remotely. Cellular, satellite, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and RFID are all covered at once. It is not a jammer and not a software setting ā it is physics, and it works on a device you do not control and cannot unlock.
Three RF layers rather than one is the difference between a bag that still works after a year and a pouch that merely attenuates. Shielding effectiveness degrades as material is flexed, abraded and opened thousands of times; the layer count is the margin that absorbs that.
The antenna problem this size solves
A satellite phoneās stub antenna is the part that will not fit a standard phone sleeve, and forcing a bag closed around it is exactly how you end up with a gap in the seal. The point of a purpose-cut size is that the closure folds cleanly with the device fully inside. If it does not close properly, it is not shielding ā a partially closed Faraday bag is an antenna with a slot in it.
Real uses
Evidence handling. A seized device left connected can be remotely wiped, can receive traffic that alters its state, and can sync changes that complicate authentication later. Bag it at the point of seizure, powered on. Do not shut it down: powering a modern phone off triggers full-disk encryption that can leave it unreadable, which is why the correct procedure is bag it, keep it powered, and get it to an examiner. See digital forensics.
Executive and travel privacy. Devices in the bag during a sensitive discussion cannot serve as microphones or location beacons, regardless of what is installed on them.
Key fobs. Relay attacks work by extending a fobās signal from inside your house to a thief at your car. A fob in a Faraday bag ends that attack outright.
Found trackers. A GPS tracker recovered from a vehicle stops reporting the moment it is bagged, preserving it intact rather than alerting whoever placed it.
Using it correctly
Fold and secure the closure exactly as specified, every time. Test the bag before you rely on it ā put a phone inside, close it properly, call the phone; if it rings, the seal is wrong. Retest periodically, because shielding wears. And expect battery drain: a device that cannot find a network climbs to full transmit power hunting for one, so it comes out flatter than it went in.
