A replacement set of four comfort straps for a concealable carrier — 10.5″ long by 2″ wide. These are the straps that hold the front and back panels at the right height and tension on a 10-point adjustable vest, and they are the part of a carrier that wears out first.

What is in the set

Four comfort straps, 10.5″ long × 2″ wide — a full replacement set for a 10-point adjustable concealable carrier.

Why these wear out before the armor does

Ballistic panels have a multi-year service life. The elastic and hook-and-loop that hold them in position do not. Straps are put under tension every shift, soaked in sweat, and pulled through their adjusters thousands of times — and elastic that has lost its recovery no longer holds a panel where it was fitted.

That matters more than it sounds. Armor protects the area it covers, and a panel that has crept two inches down over the course of a shift is leaving the upper chest open while it digs into your hips. Replacing a stretched set of straps restores the fit the carrier was sized for, at a fraction of the cost of replacing the carrier.

When to replace them

Three signs. The elastic no longer springs back when stretched and released. You find yourself re-tightening during a shift — that is the strap giving, not the armor settling. Or the hook-and-loop has gone furry and releases under load, which is the failure that lets a panel shift at exactly the wrong moment.

Heat and moisture accelerate all three. Straps left to dry inside a hot vehicle, or run through a machine wash with the carrier, age much faster than the manufacturer’s schedule assumes.

Fitting them back correctly

A 10-point adjustable carrier is adjustable so that it can be set once and left. After replacing straps, refit the vest properly rather than approximating the old setting: the front panel should sit roughly two finger-widths below the sternal notch and end near the navel, snug enough that it does not move when you run, and sized over whatever you will actually wear underneath. Loose armor moves in the one moment you need it not to.

Keep a spare set. A strap that fails does so at the start of a shift, and a carrier with three working straps is not a carrier you should be wearing.
