Camera Finder with RF Detector

$99.27

Need to find a hidden Camera, this little spyfinder type device will do the job. An easy, inexpensive detection device.

SKU: DD3150 Category:

Ordered direct from the manufacturer. This item ships to you from the maker. Dispatch times vary by product, so we confirm your delivery timeline by email as soon as your order is placed.

This is the entry point into camera detection that still does both jobs properly. It combines an optical lens finder with an RF detector covering 1 MHz to 6.5 GHz, in a unit that fits a pocket and costs a fraction of professional sweep equipment. For a hotel room, a rental, a changing area or a vehicle you have reason to be uneasy about, it is the practical answer.

Two detection methods, and why you need both

The lens finder works on retroreflection. Light from the LEDs enters a camera lens, bounces off the sensor and returns straight to its source as a hard bright point when you look through the viewfinder. The important consequence: this finds a camera whether it is powered on, powered off, transmitting, or recording silently to an internal card. Nothing else in counter-surveillance has that property — a lens is a lens. Working range is roughly 3 inches to 30 feet.

The RF detector finds the transmission instead of the optics, so it catches wireless cameras, listening devices and trackers that are actively sending — out to about 30 feet, across 1 MHz to 6.5 GHz. That range span matters: devices now sit on 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular bands, and a narrow-band detector simply does not see much of what is sold today.

Neither method alone is sufficient. RF is blind to a card-recording camera; optical is blind to an audio-only bug with no lens. Together they cover both.

The features that make it usable

Adjustable sensitivity is the one that separates finding a device from knowing something is nearby. You do not read the bargraph as a yes/no — you turn sensitivity down as you get closer, which narrows the field until the source is localized to a specific object. The backlit LCD shows signal strength, battery and alert mode at a glance.

Three alert modes — visual, audible and vibrating — matter because a detector that beeps in an occupied hotel lobby announces exactly what you are doing. Vibrate mode lets a sweep read as someone checking their pocket. The retractable telescoping antenna improves RF pickup when extended and stows for transport, and the rechargeable lithium battery runs about five hours continuous.

How to sweep a room

Kill the lights and close the blinds — the optical scan depends on contrast. Work a grid rather than wandering: one wall at a time, floor to ceiling, paying attention to anything at seated eye level facing a bed, a desk or a doorway. Smoke detectors, alarm clocks, USB chargers, air purifiers and picture frames are the usual housings. Then run the RF pass with your own phone and Wi-Fi switched off, so you are not chasing your own signal.

Honest limits, and what to do if you find something

This is a pocket unit, not a spectrum analyzer. It tells you something is transmitting, not on what band or protocol. Against a device that transmits in short scheduled bursts rather than continuously, any handheld sweep can land in a quiet window and find nothing. If you have a concrete reason to believe a space is compromised and a handheld pass comes up empty, that is where professional TSCM earns its cost.

If you do find a device: do not unplug it and do not handle it further. It is potential evidence and how it was preserved will matter. Photograph it in place, note the time, and call. See also camera and lens finders and RF and GPS detection.
