What a backpack panel is good for
A backpack armor panel is the protection people will actually have with them. It lives in the bag a student, teacher, nurse or traveler already carries every day, adds a pound or so, and needs no fitting. For families and campus staff who are never going to wear a vest, that is the realistic option.
Used on its own, the panel has handles and structure, so it can be held in front of the torso as a shield while moving to an exit.

What it stops, and what it does not
This is IIIA soft armor. It is rated against common handgun rounds and does not stop rifle rounds. Anyone telling you a one-pound flexible insert stops a rifle is selling something. Know the limit before you rely on it.
Fit and placement
At 11 by 14 inches with tapered edges, the panel drops into most standard school and work backpacks. Slide it into the compartment closest to the wearer’s back so it sits flat against the spine, and check that the bag still closes without forcing the zipper. If the bag has a laptop sleeve, that is usually the right pocket.
Care
Wipe with a damp cloth and air dry flat. Do not machine wash the panel, do not fold it to fit a smaller bag, and do not leave it in a hot car for weeks on end. Check the manufacture date on the label and replace at five years.
Buying for a school, office or family
If you are equipping a group, we would rather talk through the plan than sell you panels alone. Lighting, door hardware, access control and a written emergency procedure usually prevent more harm than any single piece of equipment. Ask us for a security assessment first.
