Cybersecurity & Encrypted Devices

Hardware for the part of security that is not on the network perimeter: the device in someone’s hand, the router at a small office, and the data that travels with staff.
What is here. Firewalls and secure routers for small offices and home networks, encrypted and hardened devices, Faraday and signal-blocking products, and tools for isolating equipment.
Firewalls first. Most small offices run whatever the internet provider supplied and cannot see what leaves the network. A proper small-business firewall gives you segmentation — guest devices, cameras and point-of-sale on separate networks from the machines that touch payroll and client data — plus visibility of outbound traffic, which is how compromised devices are usually spotted. Put the camera recorder and the access-control panel on their own segment; they are the least-patched devices in most buildings.
Faraday and isolation. Shielded bags block cellular, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. They matter in two places: protecting a device during a sensitive movement or meeting, and preserving a seized device so it cannot be tracked or wiped remotely. Shielding only works when the closure is rolled and sealed properly — test the bag when it arrives rather than trusting it later.
Hardware is one layer. The controls that stop the most incidents are still free: multi-factor authentication on email, banking and payroll, a call-to-verify rule before any payment-detail change, and backups you have actually restored. If you want that managed rather than bought, see managed security services; after an incident, digital forensics establishes what happened before anything is rebuilt.
