When you need warehouse security

Warehouse security is the set of gate controls, officers, patrols, cameras and procedures that protects a distribution or storage facility, its yard and the freight moving through it from theft, fraud and damage. It covers the building and the property line. Once a load leaves your gate, it is a transportation and cargo security problem, and we plan that separately.

Facility and operations managers usually call us when:

  • A full trailer disappeared from the yard over a weekend
  • A carrier showed up with paperwork that looked right, and the load never arrived
  • Cycle counts keep coming up short in one category or one shift
  • A new building is coming online and the gate plan is still a sticky note
  • Fence cuts, copper theft or vandalism keep hitting the back of the lot
  • The current gate officer waves trucks through without checking anything

What we cover

Most sites combine a staffed gate with patrol or video coverage for the rest of the yard. Officers can be armed or unarmed depending on what you move and where you are.

Gate house and driver check-in

Officers check driver ID and carrier details against the appointment, record tractor and trailer numbers, and verify that seal numbers match the bill of lading on the way in and out.

Yard checks and trailer audits

Scheduled and random yard checks that confirm which trailers are on site, loaded or empty, locked and sealed. Results go into a log you can match against your yard management system.

Remote video for the perimeter

Remote video guarding watches the fence line, dock aprons and parked trailers overnight, with live talk-down and police notification when someone is inside the fence.

Internal theft support

Exit procedures and bag checks under your written policy, dock door discipline, and our licensed investigators when shortages point to someone inside.

How it works

  1. Request online. Tell us the site, operating hours, what you store and what has gone wrong.
  2. Site survey. We walk the gate, yard, docks and fence line during a shift change and after dark, when most problems start.
  3. Written plan. You get a staffing and coverage plan, gate procedures, and a short list of physical fixes such as fence gaps, lighting and camera angles.
  4. Post orders. Gate, yard and patrol duties are written down and approved by you, including what officers do when paperwork does not match.
  5. Start. Officers start with a site orientation on your systems, carriers and emergency contacts.
  6. Reporting and review. Daily activity reports, incident reports with photos, and a regular review of what the logs show.

Arizona facts that shape the plan

Industrial growth in central Arizona is real, and it is spreading south of Phoenix. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that Pinal County’s population grew 26.6 percent between April 2020 and July 2025, to 539,380 people. Casa Grande, where our headquarters sits, is where I-8 meets I-10, and freight between the Phoenix and Tucson metros runs through the county on I-10 every day. New buildings often open before the surrounding area has much traffic, lighting or police presence, which makes them easy targets in their first year.

Two legal details matter for warehouse operators:

  • Fence the whole yard. Arizona treats unlawfully entering a fenced commercial yard as second-degree criminal trespass under A.R.S. 13-1503. A.R.S. 13-1501 defines a fenced commercial yard as property surrounded completely by fences, walls, buildings or similar barriers. A gap in the fence line weakens more than your physical security.
  • Freight theft can be a federal crime. 18 U.S.C. 659 covers theft of interstate or foreign shipments from trailers, warehouses, container freight stations and freight consolidation facilities. Good records of seals, trailer numbers and times make it easier for investigators to work a case.

The FBI has collected cargo theft data through its Uniform Crime Reporting program since Congress required it in the USA PATRIOT Improvement and Reauthorization Act of 2005. The FBI notes that the data depend on how many agencies take part, so the official numbers are not a complete national picture. Report every loss to police anyway, with your seal and trailer records attached.

Weather matters too. Gate houses need working cooling when summer afternoons sit well above 100 degrees, or officers cannot stay alert. Monsoon dust storms and outages blind cameras and drop gate power, so the plan needs a manual fallback.

Internal theft: the quieter loss

A stolen trailer is loud. Internal theft is quiet, and over a year it can cost more. It tends to follow the same few paths: product staged near a dock door and loaded onto the wrong truck, mislabeled cartons that leave as damaged goods, a driver and a dock worker who know each other a little too well, or returns that never make it back into stock.

Officers help most by making the routine consistent: the same exit procedure every shift, dock doors closed between loads, and no personal vehicles parked against the building. When the numbers still do not reconcile, our licensed investigators can run an employee theft investigation that ties video, gate logs and inventory records together, handled quietly so you do not tip off the wrong person.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Releasing loads without verifying the carrier. Confirm that the driver, truck and carrier match the appointment before anything leaves the dock.
  • Seals nobody records. A seal number that is not logged at the gate cannot prove anything later.
  • Loaded trailers left over the weekend in an unfenced or poorly lit corner of the lot, with no kingpin lock.
  • Dock doors open between loads. Product walks out through doors that stay open for convenience.
  • One officer doing everything. The person running the gate cannot also patrol a 40-acre yard.
  • Cameras aimed for appearance. If they do not capture faces at the gate and plates at the exit, they will not help an investigation.

Who this is for

  • Distribution and fulfillment centers
  • Third-party logistics providers
  • Cold storage and food distribution
  • Cross-dock and trailer drop yards
  • Manufacturers with finished-goods warehouses
  • Developers with new speculative industrial buildings

How it is priced

We do not publish rates. Cost depends on gate hours, officer count, armed or unarmed posts, yard size and video coverage. We quote in writing before any work starts.

Frequently asked questions

Can your officers search employee bags?

Only under a written policy your employees already know about, applied the same way to everyone. Officers do not force a search. If someone refuses, they document it and tell management.

Do you check seals and bills of lading at the gate?

Yes, if you want it. Officers record seal numbers, trailer and tractor numbers and times, and stop a release when the paperwork does not match.

Do you cover sites outside Phoenix?

Yes. We work across Arizona, including Casa Grande, Eloy, Coolidge and the Tucson area, and our headquarters is in Pinal County.

Is remote video enough for a warehouse yard?

For many yards it covers nights and weekends well. Sites with live gate traffic around the clock usually need a staffed gate, with video watching the rest of the fence line.

What happens when we find a shortage?

We help preserve the video and gate logs, then our licensed investigators can look into it with you. We cannot promise a result, but early preservation keeps your options open.
